It's been a few weeks, who here has finished The Wind Through the Keyhole? What did you think?

I have to admit that I was very apprehensive when I heard that there would be a new book in The Tower series, especially one that fell in the middle of the series. Granted, there was a bit of a gap between Wizard and Wolves, but I felt that there was sufficient explanation of the gap in the latter book.

Because of that, I was incredibly pleasantly surprised to be such a big fan of the book. The fact that it largely consisted of tale-telling, and didn't involve a ton of events that were occurring in that gap was a smart move on Uncle Steve's behalf. Plus, the introduction of Tim Stoutheart was really cool, since it not only allows for future stories about his further exploits, but also adds a glimpse into the type of tales of courage that Roland was reared on. I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to find out more and more about Tim Stoutheart.

The Skin-Man story was enjoyable (the concept of a gunslinger using a silver bullet to slay a shape shifter? C'mon, that's fucking awesome) though a bit unremarkable. I was convinced for a bit that Young Bill would turn out to be the Skin Man (with Roland in the cell with him when the change came upon him), but wasn't totally disappointed with the way it turned out, either. All in all, that story was fun (and allowed Jaime to finally be featured in a story of Roland's younger years) but paled significantly in comparison to the Tim Stoutheart story (featuring RF!).

i really loved it. but i unapologetically love anything having connections to the dark tower.

speaking of which, i just read the black house and it was fantastic. you have to read the talisman first, of course.

I love The Dark Tower books but I wasn't overly impressed with The Wind Through the Keyhole. It felt as if the story of Tim Stoutheart was something that had been written by itself and the rest of the book was written around that story in order for it to be published. Don't get me wrong, I liked the story by itself but as far as being a Dark Tower book, it was lacking something for me... I think I may have had too high of an expectation for it because DT4: Wizard and Glass was my absolute favorite out of the series.

I loved it, but it was too short. It took me no time at all to read it. And there wasn't enough Oy (but for me, there's never enough Oy).

Loved it. Always hungry for more at the end of a King book. Especially the DT series. Well, actually the ending (of the series) made me angry, but I think he knew that most of us would be angry. I beleive it's probably the only time I've thrown a book and screamed. This one tied everything in, including the comic series, which I think is very good. Looking forward to more tie ins and back story. Remember the Lord of the Rings Series? I think that Mid-world has a similarly large enough history to have many, many more tales and legends that we've never heard, or have only been hinted at. :)

I liked it, but it was odd to read a story within a story within a book. Also agreeing that it felt a little strange to delve back into the middle of the quest, but it was wonderful to be with the ka-tet again.

I adored The Wind Through The Keyhole. The story about Tim was wonderful and I loved being with the Ka-Tet again. It was too short though, I read it in a day. :)

I loved it, I didn't realize how much I missed the Ka-tet and Mid-world until reading this book. Rereading the series now :)
